The most effective political ad I ever saw was for OH state auditor.


I didn't know much about either candidate, and when that happens I typically don't vote for that office. I figure it's better to leave it to those who can make an informed decision than to just guess. But while I was watching the local news before the general election, one of the candidates ran an ad that showed that her opponent was not a CPA and had never performed an audit before.

It was incredibly impactful because (1) it spoke directly to the inability of her opponent to perform the job the office required, and (2) it was made in a professional way, yet was easy to understand. Made it simple for me to pick a preferred candidate (the one who actually knows about accounting).

I wonder why I don't see ads like this more often.
